The Great Debate Fallout & Steaming Piles on the Front Lawn

Now that the first Presidential debate is behind us, if you want to call it that, and everybody and their grandmother has already provided their commentary I thought I would provide a thought or two. However, in good Troublemaker fashion, if you ask for my two cents you just might get ten cents worth.

The biggest takeaway from the debate is something that everyone in their right mind already knew, but that they are now given permission to talk about, and that is that Joe Biden is mentally and cognitively insolvent. Again, this was no secret to anyone. Even before Joe Biden declared that he was going to run in 2019. I told my wife there is no way that guy is going to run because he is not there mentally. He had always been prone to gaffs (and flat out lies), but it was already obvious then that this was not a glitch in the system but rather was the system. I was wrong – he actually entered the race. Then, I said there is no way this guy gets the nomination because he is embarrassingly bad. Even Cory Booker, of all people, commented in 2019 after the first Democratic primary debate that Biden wasn’t there mentally. Again, I was wrong.

Then I said, there is no way this guy survives the Presidential race because he looked like he was knocking on deaths door. In fact, I remember that was why people watched him debate Trump in 2020 because they were excited to see if he could even compose a sentence or see if he was going to continue talking about record players and beating the crap out of domestic violence. Again, I was wrong. Biden managed to not glitch out in public at the debate which led to us getting the most popular president in American history.

Which leads me to my first general observation now that it’s ok to say the quite part out loud. Therefore, let me ask you this question as loudly as I can. Do you still believe that this is the most popular president in American history? The reason I ask this is because coming to terms with this is actually a very important part of us being able to move on as a nation. The reason I ask this, is because you either have to believe that he is in fact the most popular president in American history, in which case the American people are the stupidest and most damnably dumb populace to have existed on the planet or that the democrats cheated, and it was a fraudulent election.

Again, Biden’s mental acuity at the last debate was nothing new. This has been going on since before the 2020 election. So either 81 million people said this is the guy that is fit to best lead the nation, or the election was a fraud. There wasn’t a coup attempted on Jan. 6th there was one accomplished. But not the one that we are supposed to be talking about.

Another question that we should ask ourselves is, why now? Again, this was nothing new. This was a weekend at Bernie’s presidency from the very beginning. So why is the same media, that just a few weeks ago was praising Joe Biden as a mental juggernaut now crying like a fat kid stuck in line at a buffet, saying that he has to go. The long and short of it is, they know they can’t win with Biden. He is so bad and it’s so obvious that no one can cheat that much.

But let that sink in. Had he not glitched out at the debate, they would all still be singing his praises publicly, knowing full well that he is not there – and even before that he was only playing with half a deck. These people are so disgusting that the only thing they care about is winning. But again, the 2020 election was totally valid and Biden is the most popular president ever. I’ll even go one step further. If they are unable to get Biden out, or if he doesn’t accidentally have a heart attack then all of those same people who have been saying for the past week that he has to go will switch their tune and say again he is a mental giant and that it was just a fluke.

I’m watching all of this and thinking it’s wonderful that Biden is hanging from Haman’s noose. He is a horrible human being and is getting what he deserves and so too are the democrats. Because of this I think we should make them eat crow and constantly drive the point home that they did this to the nation. They are a bunch of disgusting power hungry bastards that caused this mess and did irreversible damage to the country as a result.

However, in saying that, I also think the republicans suck horribly as well, and even though everybody knows the democrats cheated in 2020 the republicans didn’t do anything about because they didn’t think it was a winning talking point for them. When both parties are only focused on winning instead of doing what’s right nobody wins. They conceded the narrative, which they do repeatedly, and they get clobbered for it because they are idiots, and you can see the same thing happening here.

What is everyone talking about? Biden…his age and his mental fitness. Again, age and mental fitness. Again, age and metal fitness is all anyone is talking about. That and the fact that nobody believes that Biden can beat Trump. That is a pretty easy fix. Remove Biden and put someone in there that’s younger. Now compare that person to Trump who is only a couple of years younger than Biden and not a sharp as he used to be, and you have the ultimate judo move – now Trump looks old and mentally unfit, and nobody wants to go down that road again. Will that persuade Trump’s base. No, but it could likely persuade independents.

Is that what’s likely to happen? I don’t know anymore. It is hard to believe that Biden can stay in the race – his own party is going to crucify him if he does, which I will greatly enjoy watching them eat their own. However, one interesting thing to consider that no one is considering, is the possibility of Biden staying in the race and actually winning. Does that sound crazy? Almost as crazy as Biden winning in 2020. What happens to our country if Biden were to actually win in 2024? I imagine there are a lot of people that would want that and have for some time.

The other red herring is the fact that Trump’s debate performance sucked. Sure, next to Biden he looked like an intellectual giant, but overall I thought he actually did a horrible job and didn’t look nearly as sharp as he has in the past. Do I think Trump could do a lot of good with another term? Certainly, if he learned from his mistakes the first time around. I hope he has, and I hope he does. However, I deeply question whether or not he actually has and his recent movement towards the center particularly on every single social issue gives me great cause for concern.

At this point it looks like Trump is going to win, and I hope he does, because he is to be preferred over any democrat, but I think we’re in for it either way. However, either way, as Christians we should step back from all of this mess and take responsibility for the part we’ve played in all of it. Covid and all the crazy that followed exposed just how derelict most churches public theology was and still is. It also exposed how divided the church actually is and how we have a lot of things we have to work out before they will ever get worked out in our country.

Cheers!
